Hi all Not too good today, so glad its the weekend. Woke up ok, had a cup of tea, then started to feel faint, hot (sweaty) and stomach pains. Went back to bed until 2pm, still feel achy, very weak every time I try to do anything. My daughter is nagging me and saying I work too many hours, and need to cut back. i arleady know this, but its made me wonder if thats why I feel so awful today. Its happened to me once before in Sep on the Saturday too, so maybe my body is saying enough is enough. Did alot of hours this week, as one mum was on a course and hat a long journey, so started at 7am until 6pm. Am I crazy?? probably!! The trouble is the baby's mum is a friend, and I adore Amelie, and dont want to lose her. At the same time, I have now lost my weekend, and am stuck inside instead of a nice relaxing time at Starb**** with my daughters. So, the time has come, but how do I approach it? Mum knows I have hosp appts, and blood tests, but not really what its all about, and I dont want to overwhelm her with the problems of RA, and now also being tested for mixed connective tissue disease, as showing signs of Lupus. Oh, why cant life be simple!!! BARBARA

Oh so sorry you feel so weak and ill. I would suggest that perhaps it is the end of the week and as soon as the body relaxes it allows all the stress of the past week to erupt!
My brother and his partner have this often as they have such high profile and stressy jobs that on many weekends (and holidays!) they have come down with something. Most annoying- could be adrenalin related as it is running high when one works and is distracted.
I hope you manage to overcome the worry and can talk to your employer.
Much love, Amanda

Hi Amanda, thank you for replying, yes its probably stress related, its been a rough week. I am officially self employed, so its up to me, just feel so useless, and hate Este is a friend from when I worked at the special needs school too up until 2 years ago, so Amelie is very special to me, and I dont wnt to stop seeing her. Its just so hard to have to do this when all I want is to keep going, and do normal things. Your brother and partner are obviously very stressed too. Its a very difficult time. BARBARA

Hi Barbara, sorry your not feeling good today, i have Ra and Lupus too, you were right to go to bed and rest , i have to do that when i get stressed out i start to feel like im getting the flu but its a lupus flare coming on. Definitely think your daughter is right a stressful job wont help your illness, you really need to think about it . Hope you get some relief soon.

Hope you are feeling better today Barbara. The pressure of keeping on working when you are self employed must be horrendous. Child minders don't get paid sick leave generally do they? I also know how much you think of the impact on the parents who's children you are looking after - even when they are not your friends - must cause much turmoil. (I had a lovely childminder for my son when he was little, she ended up being a mentor and advisor for new childminders). I don't think people realise how responsible you feel towards the children and their parents. My post isn't very helpful I know but I can understand how you are feeling. Hope you manage to enjoy the rest of your weekend. Take care.
Julie

Thanks for replies, Sophie, yes, its hard when you know it has to be a flare, and just try to ignore it, I should know better!! Julie, thankyou for your comments, they were helpful, and yes its very difficult when you feel responsible not only for the children, but for the parents jobs too Jenni, I have public liability ins, didnt know about any other kind, or even how it works, probably a bit late now to start looking into it, but sounds a really good idea, thanks. Not so bad today, just taking it easy again, ready for tomorrow. BARBARA

Hi Barbara, Sorry you are feeling so rough - little ones are adorable, but can be very tiring, and your system is probably in protest. I hope you feel better soon. Take care, Kathleen x

Hi Barbara,
Sorry I missed your post, poor you I think you're right your body is telling you to slow down. Don't do what I did and run myself into the ground until I was forced to take sick leave and then came down with a series of illnesses because my immune system was so run down. I know your self employed, but you need to listen to your body and seems to me that it might be telling you to slow down.
Take care,
Love,
Barbara XXXXXX
